FrieslandCampina now transports milk powder by train to China

03 May 2017

FrieslandCampina has been transporting its baby milk powder to China by freight train since 2 May 2017.

The China-Europe freight line ensures faster, more efficient and cheaper transport compared to air freight and sea freight.

The containers are first transported by truck to Germany, where they go on a freight train to Chongqing, China.

"Compared to air freight, this method of transport is up to ten times cheaper", says Mischa Broeders, Logistics Manager at FrieslandCampina. "That is a lot of money that our farmers also benefit from. When you compare it to transport by sea, it saves half the transit time. That means an advantage of about twenty days", says Mischa Broeders.
